Plugging & abandonment

Seven-well P&A operation

Western Canada

Field operations supporting a coordinated seven-well plugging and abandonment program. The work reflects the planning, equipment mobilization, field coordination, and disciplined execution required to advance a multi-well closure scope.

Project details are intentionally limited to protect client and site confidentiality.

Case 1 · Surface casing vent flow

High-rate vent-flow investigation and repair

Project challenge: A difficult well required equipment removal, diagnostic work, repeated cement remediation, and extended verification before closure readiness could be established.

Work performed

Removed interfering equipment and prepared the wellbore
Set a retainer and coordinated diagnostic logging
Completed thirteen cement squeezes
Finished with fresh water and long-term monitoring
Documented outcome

Recorded end-of-job vent flow was zero. Continued monitoring was included to preserve evidence of performance.

Case 2 · Prior-abandonment remediation

Locating and correcting earlier abandonment work

Project challenge: Existing rods, tubing, and a previous abandonment device prevented the new program from reaching and isolating the required intervals.

Work performed

Removed rods and tubing
Drilled out the previous abandonment device
Squeezed and abandoned multiple perforated intervals
Completed post-work noise-temperature and radial-bond logging
Documented outcome

The work restored access to the required intervals and produced updated verification evidence for closeout planning.

Case 3 · Difficult-well program

Repeated diagnostics and cement isolation

Project challenge: Multiple prior devices and a lost-circulation interval created a complex sequence requiring field decisions, repeated isolation work, and careful documentation.

Work performed

Drilled out three prior devices
Addressed the lost-circulation interval
Completed eight retainer squeezes
Placed five cement-capped bridge plugs
Documented outcome

Verification advanced the well toward final cut-and-cap readiness under the approved technical program.

Case 4 · Monitoring and verification

Vent-flow control and closure-readiness testing

Project challenge: The project required more than barrier placement; the team needed to demonstrate the resulting condition through circulation, pressure monitoring, and repeat testing.

Work performed

Completed cement remediation
Circulated to surface
Monitored pressure response
Performed repeat bubble testing and file review
Documented outcome

The combined field evidence supported confirmation of downhole abandonment readiness.
